Songlines announce their Best Albums of 2019

Songlines Magazine have announced their Best Albums of 2019 (see below) and we’re pleased to see the list include five albums distributed by Proper. These include Miri from Bassekou Kouyaté & Ngoni ba, 1958 from Blick Bassy, HaitiaNola from Lakou Mizik, Songs of our Native Daughters from Our Native Daughters and The Lost Words: Spell Songs album.

The Best Artist, Best Group, Newcomer and World Pioneer awards will be announced at the Songlines Music Awards ceremony on Saturday November 30 at London’s EartH. Hosted by Cerys Matthews, the ceremony will include performances from a selection of winners and nominees including Mariza, Fatoumata Diawara, Catrin Finch & Seckou Keita, Gaye Su Akyol and Monsieur Doumani.
