Platinum selling indie-rock heroes Razorlight are set to make a triumphant return with Olympus Sleeping, the band’s first album in ten years. The record sees lead-singer and songwriter Johnny Borrell in top form, dishing up instant classics like the insanely catchy ‘Carry Yourself’ or the album’s lead single ‘Olympus Sleeping’.
Announcing their return, frontman Johnny Borrell said: “We’ve been away for a long time and wanted to give more to the fans than just one single. I’m really excited about the album and really excited about doing Razorlight again.”
The album’s title track is classic Razorlight, bursting in to life as infectious guitars collide with pulsating drums and an irresistible bass line as Johnny yells “Hubris, hubris… we always kill our attractions.”
‘Japanrock’ is another incendiary, raucous slice of three minute indie-pop, whilst ‘Sorry?’ finds the band at their instantly catchy, melodic best, with chiming guitars and harmonic backing vocals.
For the new album, Johnny worked closely with guitarist David Ellis, and the band were joined on drums by Martin Chambers of The Pretenders. Olympus Sleeping is everything we always loved about Razorlight – the electric energy of the first album, the pop-rock craftsmanship of the second and the lyrical ambition of the third.
