DUX Recordings win 2023 BBC Music Magazine Award

Bacewicz: Music for Chamber Orchestra Vol. III

Congratulations to DUX Recordings on being awarded Orchestral Recording of the Year at the 2023 BBC Music Magazine Awards for the album Bacewicz: Music for Chamber Orchestra Vol. III.

This album presents the chamber music output of Grazyna Bacewicz (1909–1969) and contains both works created before World War II and those from the late period of the composer’s life. In performances described as “dynamic and full of life” (BBC Music Magazine), and “simply scintillating” (Art Music Lounge), these works by Bacewicz are performed here by the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra under the baton of world-renowned Polish conductor, Agnieszka Duczmal.

“In a set of recordings spanning a number of years, conductor Agnieszka Duczmal and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra revive a series of string works by one of Poland’s greatest, and often unsung, musical voices. The gutsy performances were described as ‘dynamic and full of life’ in our original June issue review.”BBC Music Magazine

“These performances by the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra are simply scintillating. While Deutsche Grammophon and the Brits hold up Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla as a paragon of female conductors, Agnieszka Duczmal has been thrilling Polish audiences for decades with her crisp, incisive readings of all the classic, old and modern. This is a wonderful recording all around!”Art Music Lounge
